Fujitsu has established a sixth-generation supercomputer system for Taiwan’s Central Meteorological Administration (CWA)
Fujitsu has established a sixth-generation supercomputer system for Taiwan’s Central Meteorological Administration (CWA) to improve the accuracy of weather forecasts and mitigate the impact of extreme weather events. Taiwan, due to its tropical and subtropical climate, is often exposed to natural disasters such as typhoons. The new supercomputer system, based on the Fujitsu Supercomputer PRIMEHPC FX1000 technology, enables CWA to conduct advanced weather observation, improve the accuracy of weather forecasts, and analyze long-term climate changes. The system uses an A64FX CPU, similar to that of the Fugaku supercomputer, and achieves a performance of 10 PFlops, making it the fastest in Taiwan. The system has a total performance capacity that is seven times greater than CWA’s fifth generation system. Fujitsu will continue to support CWA in providing advanced meteorological services, leveraging its expertise in high-performance computing and artificial intelligence.
