AFL-CIO and Microsoft announce new tech-labor partnership on AI and the future of the workforce
AFL-CIO and Microsoft – the first collaboration of this kind between a labor union and a technology company, with a focus on artificial intelligence
The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and Microsoft have announced the formation of a new partnership to create an open dialogue on how artificial intelligence (AI) must anticipate the needs of workers and incorporate their voices into its development and implementation.
This collaboration is the first of its kind between a labor union and a technology company with a focus on artificial intelligence and will achieve three goals: (1) sharing foundational information with union leaders and workers about trends in artificial intelligence technology, (2) incorporating the perspectives and expertise of workers in the development of artificial intelligence technology, and (3) assisting in shaping public policies that support technological skills and the needs of frontline workers.
